National Osteoporosis Foundation of South Africa
1. MAIN OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT/S
a) Heighten awareness/ Improve education of patients to ensure wwearly diagnosis and treatment
b) Educate health care workers (guidelines, courses) and to wwpromote clinical research into fracture prevalence and burden of wwdisease
c) Negotiate with Government and Medical Aids to ensure access wwto medications for all (this does not exist at all!).
2. COMMUNITY
This is a National initiative hoping to benefit all women, the aged and the chronically ill suffering from the devastating consequences of osteoporosis.
3. BENEFICIARIES
The aim is to target those individuals whom are most at risk to suffer the consequences of osteoporosis i.e. women, the elderly and the chronically ill (potentially 4- 6 million South Africans).
4. PERSONNEL
The Foundation uses its current full time employees (CEO and Administrative Officer), existing Council (8) and volunteers until such time where we will have funds for national offices.
